With a richly storied geologic history found nowhere else on earth, Napa Valley offers some of the world’s most diverse soils and the opportunity to create wines of defined character and taste. Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate crafts wines from select growing areas within the Valley, carefully choosing from the patchwork of microclimates and terroirs. Handcrafted by renowned winemaker Philippe Melka and blended with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland, our small lot Cabernet Sauvignon wines are as varied as the Valley itself and reflect the individuality of their sites.
The Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate wine portfolio includes these distinctive wines:
Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
In creating Alejandro Bulgheroni Cabernet Sauvignon, Melka and Rolland use their unsurpassed skill in understanding how different contributing wines interact to produce something exceptional from an aroma and flavor perspective.
Each year, they select from the finest barrels to create a limited offering of Alejandro Bulgheroni Cabernet Sauvignon wine. Using this philosophy, the composition of each vintage will be unique and reflect the finest of the Estate.
The history of the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard closely resembles that of Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate. It was once part of the Rancho Carne Humana Spanish land grant given to Edward T. Bale by Mexican General Vallejo. It was first planted by Bale to Mission grapes, making it one of the first vineyards planted in the Saint Helena Appellation. Henry Amstutz, one of California’s first great winemakers, replanted the vineyard to wine grapes in 1860.
In 1983, Beckstoffer Vineyards purchased the property and planted two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyard, located at the base of Sulfur Creek, is comprised of well-drained soils created from the Creek’s run-off and peppered with rocks and small pebbles. Aptly named Las Piedras by vineyard workers, the name translated in English means ‘the stones’. Its effect on wines is marked with a fresh vibrancy and deeply concentrated fruit.
Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is produced entirely from this historic vineyard.
